Seomseom (Nurikabe) Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Seomseom (the “game”), an Android logic puzzle game published by STARRY (“we”, “us”), which appears as “섬섬”, “Nurikabe” or “島々” depending on your language. By installing or playing the game, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the game.

1. The game

Seomseom is free to play and needs no account. Its chapters and daily puzzles are free. It shows ads and offers optional in-app purchases, such as Remove Ads, scenery themes, puzzle packs and hints.

We may add levels, puzzles, themes and features, and change or remove features, to improve the game. Puzzles you have already been given are not changed after release.

2. Who can play

If you are under the age of majority where you live, play the game and make purchases only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf.

3. In-app purchases

  • Purchases are sold through Google Play and are subject to the Google Play Terms of Service and payment terms. The price is shown in Google Play before you confirm, and may include taxes that apply in your country.
  • Remove Ads removes the full-screen ads shown between puzzles. Rewarded ads stay available if you choose to watch one for a reward.
  • Themes, puzzle packs and Remove Ads are one-time purchases linked to your Google account. You can restore them on another device signed in to the same account with Restore purchases in the game's settings.
  • Hints bought in a pack are used up when you use them and are stored on your device. They cannot be restored if you clear the game's data or uninstall it.
  • Refunds are handled under Google Play's refund policy and the consumer protection laws that apply to you. You can request a refund from Google Play, or contact us and we will help.

4. Hints, rewards and ads

  • Free hints refill each day up to the limit shown in the game. Watching a rewarded ad grants extra hints or other rewards described in the game.
  • Hints, themes, streaks and other in-game items have no monetary value outside the game, cannot be exchanged for money and cannot be transferred or sold.
  • Ads are supplied by Google AdMob. An ad may be unavailable in your region or at a given time, and a reward may not be granted if an ad fails to load or is closed early.
  • We may change how hints refill, how often ads appear and how rewards work. Changes will not take away items you have already bought.

5. Your progress

Your progress is stored on your device, as described in the Seomseom Privacy Policy (https://starrybits.com/en/seomseom/privacy). We do not keep a copy on our own servers, so we cannot restore it for you.

Progress may be lost if you uninstall the game, clear its data, or lose or reset your device. Items you bought from Google Play can always be restored with your Google account.

6. Acceptable use

  • Play the game only for lawful, personal and non-commercial purposes.
  • Do not modify, hack or use cheats, bots or other tools that change how the game works, how rewards are granted or how scores reach leaderboards.
  • Do not interfere with ads, generate invalid ad traffic or try to obtain rewards without genuinely watching an ad.
  • Do not try to obtain paid items without paying, or abuse refunds.
  • Do not copy, redistribute or sell the game or its puzzles, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows this.

7. Intellectual property

Nurikabe is a classic type of logic puzzle, and its rules are free for anyone to use. We own the game itself, including its puzzles, artwork, island scenery, sounds, code and text. You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to install and play the game on devices you own or control. Open-source components are licensed under their own terms.

8. Third-party services

The game is distributed through Google Play and uses Google AdMob, Google Play Billing, Google Play Games and Firebase. Your use of these services is also governed by Google's terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services or for the content of ads they serve.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The game is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranty that the game, its ads, its purchases or its leaderboards will be uninterrupted, error-free or always available, or that saved progress will never be lost.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss of progress or of in-game items that are not purchases, for problems caused by third-party services, or for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the game.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or your rights under mandatory consumer protection law.

11. Updates and discontinuation

We may release updates that change the game, and some updates may be required to keep using some features. If we decide to stop offering the game, we will announce it in the game or on this site in advance where possible, and the puzzles and items already on your device will keep working as far as Google Play and Android allow.

You can stop using the game at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend access to features such as rewards or leaderboards if you break these terms.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without limiting any mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence. If you have a concern, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally.

13. Changes to these terms

We will post any update on this page and change the effective date above. For material changes, we will also give notice on this page or in the game before they take effect. If you keep playing after the changes take effect, you accept the updated terms.
